About Us

We are the new owners of Agimac River Outfitters in Ignace, Ontario since May 2008. It's been a busy year so far just getting settled and into the swing of things here at the camp. We're meeting many wonderful people who faithfully come here for their fishing expeditions. They ask us what caused us to be interested in coming to this area.

We live on site at Agimac River Outfitters on Indian Lake, 18 miles north of Ignace, Ontario. John, a Northern Minnesotan, grew up on the west end of the wild and scenic Echo Trail. He helped his family literally carve a resort out of the wilderness. At the ripe old age of thirteen, John began guiding guests into what is now called the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. He learned a great deal about survival in the woods from his father and other woodsmen.

One day John met Daryl, a native Floridian.
He said, "You are my wife!"
She replied, "Good-bye city life."

And thus they began their new life together in the north woods of Minnesota.

We have three grown children; Cherish, Joanna, and Jonathan. Cherish is the pastor Oasis Intl., an independent full gospel church in Ely, along with her husband Patrick. She leads worship at Oasis Intl. and has a music CD out called "Cherish the Glory" with some of the songs she has composed. Quite often she ministers by preaching and leading worship in different places in the U.S. and overseas. Joanna enjoyed her jobs at the Ely Vet Clinic grooming dogs and guiding trips for Run Silent Dog Sled Trips in the winter in Ely. She joined us in Canada in October 2008 to continue guiding dog sled trips at Agimac River Outfitters. There are numerous old logging roads nearby which provide her with winter trails to train the dogs for dog sled trips and dog sled races. February 2012, she won her first dog sled race at the Midnight Run, an eighty-three mile race, starting in Marquette, MI. She is a major part of all that happens here at Agimac River Outfitters. Jonathan lives in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife Reseth and their sons, Aaron and Titus. Our son Jonathan and his lovely wife Reseth along with their two precious sons, Aaron and Titus reside in Nebraska. We are so thankful to have them closer to us, enabling us to see them more often.

It was always a dream in the back of John's mind to someday own a resort in Northwest Ontario, Canada. After looking into the possibilities for about five years, he found what seemed to be the perfect location for a year round resort. Agimac River Outfitters has the remoteness and excellent fishing of a fly-in resort that you can drive to with easy access to Indian Lake and surrounded by at least ten other lakes providing fantastic fishing.

We are excited about all the possibilities for renovation and expansion in the future here and welcome you to make Agimac River Outfitters your adventure destination.
